Description Here is presented the first book of my Preludes and Fugues for double bass solo.
Consists of: Prelude and Fugue in d minor, Cappricio on a theme by P.A.Romero, Toccata and Fugue in c minor, Toccata and Fugue in g minor.
My goal was to create music that could have been written back in baroque era if our instrument existed then in its modern form. The fact is that we bassists don't have much music from Baroque and we are mostly performing J.S. Bach's violoncello suites. Of course there are some sonatas for the ancestor of double bass - violone, but these aren't well known and frequently played.
The other thing is that there are no preludes and fugues for double bass solo! They had been written for cembalo, piano, violin, violoncello, etc. If there is nothing for double bass, why not to fill the gap?
